William Ammerman recently accepted an appointment as Adjunct at the University of North Carolina Hussman School of Journalism and Media in Chapel Hill, where he teaches MEJO 588 Emerging Technologies. The focus of the course is an in-depth exploration of storytelling using emerging technologies such as CGI, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, 360 Video, drones, Natural Language Processing, robots, and Artificial Intelligence. Students are exposed to Human Centered Design and advanced media production concepts. The course also exposes students to critical thinking about the way these emerging technologies change the human experience and can be used as tools of persuasion and propaganda. The course is designed primarily for seniors and graduate students seeking to enhance their understanding of the tools and technologies that are rapidly changing the media, journalism, and entertainment industries.
